Final Project: Historic Zone Rejuvenation

Brief: In a group of 5, we need to conduct a site analysis of a historical town in Malaysia that is not well promoted/managed. The site analysis should cover the area’s historical background, tangible and intangible heritage, population, and socio-economic condition. Apart from that we are also to carry out a township appraisal and cultural mapping which will lead us to a proposal for rejuvenating the area to boost local tourism and highlight the link between architectural heritage conservation and tourism. One of the main features required in this exercise is the proposal of a heritage trail that will need to include the group’s approaches to promote tourism in the identified zone.

Outcome: Site analysis (historical, tangible & intangible heritage, population, socio-economic, cultural mapping) ; site appraisal (SWOP) ; proposal of a heritage trail ; pre-recorded virtual tour ; A3 report of proposal ; brochure ; presentation slides.
