Project 1: Architectural Conservation and Tourism In Malaysia and Abroad

Brief: Individually, we are required to conduct a comparative case study on a heritage building in Malaysia that has been gazetted as Warisan / Warisan Kebangsaan (Heritage / National Heritage) by the National Heritage Department with any heritage building outside Malaysia of the same type. The case study should address the history of the building, its usage across time (from its early establishment to the present), major historical events at the structure, and the current ownership and management of the facility. Students should also identify the heritage attraction given for each structure and research the current status of each building in terms of tourist visitation and reaction. Aside from that, the concerns and obstacles in promoting the structures should be identified.

Outcome: An A2 size research poster and power point slides (maximum 15 slides) for oral presentation.
